Olive oil

Olive oil

Olives have been grown for thousands of years in countries with Mediterranean climates (hot dry summers and relatively mild winters) and they are the symbol of Mediterranean culture. Olive trees can grow up to eight metres tall and several thousand years old!

Olive oil production starts with the harvesting of the olives, which takes place in autumn. The olives are then pressed to extract the oil. This process can be carried out in several ways, the most traditional being that of cold pressing. In this, the olives are pressed slowly without heating, allowing the oil to retain its natural properties. After pressing, the oil is filtered and bottled.

The oil extracted from olives is versatile in use. It has a wide range of uses in cooking, as well as in skin and hair care!

Skin care

Olive oil is rich in antioxidants (vitamin E and polyphenols), vitamins and essential fatty acids that nourish and moisturise the skin, as well as protect it from external damage. The oil helps fight free radicals, which can cause damage to the skin and contribute to the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

In addition, olive oil is a natural moisturiser that reduces dryness and flakiness and improves skin elasticity. The oil penetrates deep into the skin and helps restore moisture balance, keeping skin soft and supple and preventing premature skin ageing.

Olive oil has anti-inflammatory properties and can therefore help soothe irritated and sensitive skin.

Hair care

Olive oil can also make a valuable contribution to hair care. The oil penetrates deep into the hair and provides it with essential nutrients, keeping it healthy and shiny. It also moisturises the hair, leaving it feeling soft and supple. The oil can also help reduce split ends and prevent hair breakage.

The soothing properties of olive oil also help reduce dandruff and an itchy scalp. In addition, the oil helps to strengthen hair and protect it from damage caused by heat and styling tools.

In short, olive oil is a true multi-tasker!
